The Lower School Library is available as a resource for students, faculty, and staff each day of the school year from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Junior Kindergarten visits the library four times a week, the Kindergarten three times a week, and First through Fourth Grades once a week. Teachers may always arrange for additional whole class or small group visits as needed or desired.

There are over 10,000 items in the Lower School Library which support curriculum at all grade levels and opportunities to explore individual interests in both fiction and non-fiction. In addition, there are eight computers. The students learn to use the library catalog and are initiated into the mysteries of library organization. Stone Ridge subscribes to many databases, some of which are of particular interest to Lower School students, especially third and fourth graders as they research and write short reports. One of the databases is Grolier, which includes The New Book of Knowledge, Lands and People, and America the Beautiful.

Stories chosen for Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten library visits reflect the seasons, saints’ days, holidays, and the monthly themes chosen by the teachers. The aim of the library program for First through Fourth Grades is twofold: to supplement ongoing literature study in the classrooms, and offer instruction and encouragement in the independent use of the collection for class assignments and the pursuit of personal interests.

The immediate Stone Ridge Community can access these electronic databases through the school's Intranet.
