US Swim
Fitness Class
This class is offered in the Spring and Fall and focuses on
Cardiovascular conditioning. Water Aerobics to music. Deep Water
Running and Synchronized Swimming will be taught. All Upper School
students are welcome to participate. Instructor: Mrs. Brenda Walker.
First Class begins on September 12, 2007. Physical Education Credit
may be earned.

Time: 3:15-4:15
p.m.
Open to all Stone Ridge Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten
students and their parents. Come to explore the Aquatic Center this
Spring. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with your child
and let them become acclimated to the water in a safe aquatic
environment. Tubes, noodles, goggles, and swim toys will be
available as well as use of the diving boards. Swimming vests are
provided. A parent must accompany every child in class.

Special Olympics
Swimming Program -
Spring 2008
April 5, 12, 19, 26, 12:00-2:00
p.m.; May 3, 12:00-2:00
p.m.; May 10: Meet 12:00-4:00
p.m.
The Special Olympics will be utilizing our pool to train for a
swimming meet which we will host in May.
We are looking for volunteers to
help coach the Special Olympians and encourage them in the big meet. If you are interested in giving your time to a wonderful
program, please contact Mrs. Brenda Walker. Spring 2008
Special Olympics dates will be announced.
Certified lifeguard ($9 per hour) needed for each day listed above.
We will hold a meeting in early March for all those interested in
volunteering as a coach or a lifeguard for this program.

The Lifeguard
Challenge Program - Spring 2008
Friday April 25, 2008, 4:00-9:00
p.m.
Any student 15 years of age who
wants to become a certified lifeguard for summer employment in
Montgomery County may take this challenge.
Class Requirements:
• Open to Stone Ridge Students only
• Must be 15 years old
• Swim 500 yds. using freestyle and breaststroke
• Tread water for 2 minutes; and
• Retrieve 10 lb. brick off the bottom of the pool (12ft depth)
Costs:
• $200.00 - Lifeguard, CPR,
Professional Rescuer, AED, First Aid
Certification.
• $50.00 - CPR Re-certification for
students who need to update
their CPR only.

After School CampUs
Programs
After School CampUs swimming programs will be offered in
the spring and fall sessions. Programs are taught by the Stone Ridge
Aquatics staff. Please check our home page regularly for upcoming class offerings
and registration information.
The Lifeguard Challenge Program
The Aquatic Center offers The
Lifeguard Challenge at Stone Ridge. This is given through the
American Lifeguard Association and is accepted by All Montgomery
County-operated swimming pools for summer employment. This class is
open to our students as well as siblings and students outside of
Stone Ridge.
Prerequisites:
Must be fifteen years old;
Must be able to swim 500 yds continuously using the following
strokes for at least 100 yds each: Freestyle, Breaststroke, and
Elementary Backstroke; and
Tread water for two minutes.
Here's how it works:
The Lifeguard manual, CPR and First-Aid texts, VCR tapes, and
work sheets will be available for you to study/view in the pool
classroom at all times during the school day, after school until
5:30
p.m., and Saturdays
from 1-3
p.m. This class allows
you to look over the material and complete the work sheets at your
own pace and when your schedule allows. All work needs
to be done prior to the challenge date on March 18. Upon successful
completion, a skill test, practical work in the water, and a short
multi-question exam(s).
This allows you to work at your own pace and fit the course into
your busy schedules. There is no formal instructional class prior to
the challenge. You are more than welcome to practice in the pool
after viewing the tapes. We will provide an open lane for you to
practice and assist you if needed.
** Classroom materials is available for viewing in the pool classroom.
