Athletics stress the importance of physical well-being and include varsity level
teams, intramurals, and recreation. Physical education classes emphasize safety
and positive self-concept.
Lower school students learn skills playing recreational games. Middle School
students develop skills, grasping rules and strategies. Competitive sports begin
in Seventh Grade. The Upper School does not require physical education, but
after-school offerings of running, aerobics, Jazzercise®,
introductory golf, instructional tennis, weightlifting, and karate, or a varsity
sport are recommended.
The Stone Ridge Gators, cheered on by the
Athletic Association, field freshman, junior varsity, and varsity
teams which have won championships and featured all-star athletes.
There are teams on basketball, diving, field hockey, lacrosse,
soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, cross-country, track and field,
and volleyball. Stone Ridge competes in the Independent School League (ISL).
Transportation is provided to and from games for students on
athletic teams.
