SOFTBALL
By: Mrs. Nancy Goldmeier
The Gators traveled to Bullis for
their 7th game of the season. The
team started at the plate and was
unable to put a runner on base. It
was a 1, 2, 3 inning for Bullis. In
the bottom of the 1st, the home team
put up 3 runs on the scoreboard.
Once again Stone Ridge had to come
from behind. In the second inning
the team turned it around, the bats
came alive and the Gators took a 5-3
lead. The lead did not last long;
Bullis tied it up at 5. In their
last at bat the Gators were patient
and came up with some key hits and
took an 8-5 lead. In the bottom half
of the inning the defense held on
and Bullis was unable to put another
run across the plate. The final
score was Stone Ridge 8 and Bullis
5. Come cheer the team on as they
play their final game of the season
at home on Thursday against Sidwell.
TENNIS
By: Ms. Beth Ennis
All dressed up with no place to go!
That was the tennis team yesterday.
At match time- 2:45 we got a phone
call on the tennis courts that
National Cathedral was unable to
field a full team to play us and
that they would not make the match.
The tennis team quickly recovered
from their disappointment and played
an intra-squad tournament composed
of two divisions. In the first
division, Gaby Simundson and Elkie
van den Bemt prevailed with a 6-3
score in the finals. The second
division was won by the doubles team
of Victoria Miller and Emma Ishol
with a 6-2 score in their final
match. The tennis team travels to
Holton-Arms on Thursday.

LACROSSE B
By: Ms. Christy McCauley
Bullis was no match for the B
Lacrosse team. Colette Gilner scored
the first goal of the game within
seconds of the draw. Bullis answered
that goal by barreling down the
field to score an uncontested goal.
Stone Ridge dominated the half and
controlled the tempo of the game.
After scooping up the ball and
sprinting past four opposing
players, Camille Knable scored the
second goal of the game. The half
ended with Stone Ridge in the lead
6-2. The second half proved to be
pretty much like the first half. The
most exciting goal of the game was
the pass to the middle of the field
by Maddie Cullen for Camille Knable,
who tipped the ball in with the tip
of the head of her stick. Bullis did
not see that coming. Jackie Loureiro
had 5 saves. Goals: Colette Gilner
(4), Camille Knable (3), Kane
Levings (2), Caroline Shervin (2),
Claire Orturzar (1). Jen Ferrigno
and Maddie Cullen each had an
assist. Please join us for our last
game of the season- Thursday at 2:45
against Sidwell Friends on Harkins
Field.
LACROSSE A
By: Ms. Maureen Jackson
The Stone Ridge Gators battled the
Bullis Bulldogs in the 'A' team's
last home game of the season. The
team came ready to play, with an
impressive warm-up and an air of
excitement on the pitch. The girls
came out strong, pulling ahead 4-0
with goals from Kelly Haglund,
Mairin Hall, Lindy Firstenberg and
Colleen Zorc. The Stone Ridge girls
were dominating the attacking end,
settling the offense and setting up
ideal scoring situations. Meanwhile,
Casey Sheahan, Maria Hewko, Sydney
Pothier and Zuie Billings were busy
stopping every attempt to penetrate
the Stone Ridge defense. However,
the bulldogs battled back, and the
score was 8 - 5 at the half. The
team huddled, talked strategy, and
pumped themselves up for what was
proving to be a very exciting game.
The second half proved better than
the first, with Sheahan letting in
one goal and saving too many to fit
in the stats book. The girls played
their hearts out and goals and
assists from most of the attack but
especially Sydney Pothier, Ellen
Gosnell and Sissy Dreyer proved to
be too much for the Bullis girls to
handle. The girls swept through the
second half, with Jaime Shin even
managing to try out the goalkeeper
position, and a final score of 12 -
6!! This was a fantastic game to
watch and the excitement built all
the way until the birthday
celebration at the end. Well done to
the girls for an excellent match.
The Stone Ridge 'A' team will end
their season on Thursday away at
Sidwell Friends, they look forward
to another success!
