OUR PROGRAMS
The Center’s curriculum is designed to facilitate learning using a combination of play-centered, guided discovery and thematic activity with regard to the developmental levels of each age group served. This process involves a balance of child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities.

As a part of the Sacred Heart Network, the Center incorporates the five Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Schools, educating to:
• A personal and active faith in God;
• A deep respect for intellectual values;
• A social awareness which impels to action;
• The building of community as a Christian value; and
• Personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

These Goals, which are woven into everyday life at the center, are presented to the children in age-appropriate ways through activities, literature, and interaction.

Infants (6 weeks to 18 months)
The infant program offers individual attention to foster each child’s growth and development in safe, stimulating surroundings. The staff provides quality attention by meeting basic needs and by encouraging each baby to explore and experience his/her environment. Colorful, stimulating toys, books, and games are provided to facilitate curiosity and investigation. Children are able to experience the outdoors through stroller and buggy rides and to play among other children as they become mobile. To achieve a balanced day, the Center offers quiet and peaceful, restful spaces.

Toddlers (18 months to 2 years)
The toddler program provides opportunities for language and social skills enhancement, as well as large and fine motor development. Activities include music and movement, beginning art, literature, and toys and games designed for cognitive development. Children will begin to develop independence skills, increased interest in exploration, and more consistent routines in the classroom. Outdoor activity areas are used with a variety of equipment as each child’s mobility increases. The staff plans daily activities with the creative use of materials to facilitate learning in all areas of development.

Preschool (2 to 4 years old)
The young preschoolers experience a wide-range of activities, including art projects, music in various forms, pre-reading and pre-mathematic games, and much exposure to literature. Positive social interaction with peers is encouraged along with increased language development and self-expression. Scheduled activities outside and in the gymnasium enhance physical development.
