The immediate Stone Ridge Community can access these
online databases through the school's Intranet. |
The Stone Ridge Librarians subscribe to a
wide-range of online databases for all
grade-levels.~ Produced by well-regarded
publishers, such as EBSCO, GALE,
and Oxford Press, these sources are the
first choice for successful research.
Our encyclopedias include Britannica,
Grolier, and soon, World Book.
These online encyclopedias offer the full
content of the print plus many more features and
web links. These encyclopedias are great places
to start a project for necessary background and
contextual information. Each of these databases
offers specific, differing versions for the
Elementary, Middle, and High School levels.
These databases feature the full-text of the
major national newspapers and magazines. For
example, Newsbank offers the content of
the New York Times, the Washington
Post, Time, Newsweek, and
more. Content includes current editions as well
as archives going back to the 1980s. The
EBSCO Ultra and Newspaper databases
offer a wide-range of national newspapers and
magazines.
These databases cover every subject from
English to Science. For literature, the combined
offerings of the EBSCO Literary Reference
Center, EBSCO Advanced Placement Source,
and the Gale Literature Reference Center,
feature back-ground material on authors, genres,
and titles, as well as literary criticism.
The EBSCO History Reference Center and
the Advanced Placement Source offer
tremendous resources for the history project.
The History reference center contains materials
suitable for all grade levels on a variety of US
and world history topics from Ancient History to
Modern times. This can be complemented by the
Archive of Americana which provides the
full-text of early American documents and
newspapers.
In the sciences, the school subscribes to
Scientific American with full archival
access as well as the EBSCO Health Source
and the general periodicals.
